About Lorena
Dr. Lorena Nessi is Ordinal’s Fractional Head of Content, and a technology and communication specialist with 15 years of experience across digital culture, media and emerging technologies. Based in the Cotswolds, UK, she combines academic research with practical experience in journalism, editorial strategy and content.
She holds a PhD in Media, Communication and Digital Cultures, with research focused on social media and digital culture. Her work explores the relationship between technology, capitalism and society, including the impact of blockchain and artificial intelligence.
Lorena has taught at several universities, including the University of Oxford. She is a former multimedia producer for the BBC World Service in London and has also created television content in Mexico and Japan.
Outside work, Lorena enjoys science fiction, strategic board games, travelling and adventures that get her heart racing. Her perfect day ends at a much slower pace: with a spa and a good meal with her family.
Editorial focus
She has written more than 500 articles for CCN and other media and academic publications, covering AI, blockchain, Web3 and the changing relationship between technology, organisations and society. Her work also includes interviews with founders, executives and leading figures across the technology sector.
For Ordinal, she writes about the questions businesses face before and during automation: how to tell which processes are ready, where formal process maps diverge from how work is actually done, and who remains accountable once a system runs on its own. She links claims to primary research and prefers evidence over slogans.
